Maldives: By the INCREDIBLE SEA!

Hours. And HOURS. Every day.
I had to be dragged from the water.
I was born to live in the water. To swim. To see.
The peace, the calm, the serenity that washes over when in the sea. Ahhhh.....
The waters of the Maldives take it to a whole other level, and you don't even have to do much more than snorkel because their reefs are so shallow.
Enjoy my happy place below:

Found Nemo!

Much large than he looks in person, I actually screamed underwater!

Who knew that clams could be beautiful? And they were twice the size of my hand!

We know how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE stars...fish included

HUGE puffer fish, he was as wide as he is long, so his face was SCARY!

Over the edge into the abyss. Where the freediving came in handy!

Maldives: By Land

There was a window of opportunity for 4 days off, so OF COURSE our butts were on a plane and heading out of the country! This time came just in time to celebrate our NINE year wedding anniversary, so it was perfect, though I am not entirely sure how it has been 9 years already. The time has absolutely flown by, and I can honestly say that each year has been better than the previous.

I took more pictures on this trip than I have on trips 2-3 times as long, because it was such a picturesque trip...especially the underwater experience. I am splitting this post into two; giving you an image of our trip by land and another by sea.

We stayed on a small island (the Maldives is a nation of more than 1000 islands, not all of which are inhabited) with only a single resort called Vilamendahoo (you can check it out by clicking HERE). It was a beautiful place, remote and relaxed, and it didn't even matter that it rained periodically throughout the trip. Since it was our anniversary, we opted to splurge on the villa on stilts over the water (because, whose bucket list is this NOT on?!!?!?). It was worth it, having direct access to the water from our private deck, a personal patio with jacuzzi, and the view was breathtaking. The resort is beautiful and clean, the people are super nice and helpful, though there is a bit of "nickel and diming" with it, because "all inclusive" is definitely NOT all inclusive, as we expected and are use to from our time in the Caribbean. But once you know that, everything was wonderful!

My kind of airport waiting area!

Barefoot pilot!

Approaching our isle of paradise

The boat from sea plane landing to shore, awesome!
